- Specials Nurbong was established in 1870 in the tranquil mountains of southern Darjeeling. The name comes from the plant 'Nur', which was said to have healing properties, and 'bong', which means 'tree' in the Lepcha language. Three rivers flow into each other here, creating fertile soil and ideal conditions for the tea plants with the fresh mountain water.
