- Specials Kalej Valley was founded by the British in 1858. The name was a reference to the local Kalij pheasant. Over the years, the garden has gone through turbulent times and has been closed several times. Some of the fresh leaves are still sold to neighbouring gardens. Our blend of teas from this region is a reminder of the garden's unusual and distinctive character.
