- Specials In the 2000s, Mrs Milan Kumari Khatri successfully started her own tea production. Although she lacked the appropriate machinery, she processed the tea leaves by hand and used the sun and fire to dry them. Her home-made tea became very popular in her home town and in Kathmandu, which enabled her to set up her own factory. Only the leaf bud and the first leaf were picked for these Golden Tips. The oxidation process takes up to 18 hours and gives the tea its golden colour and full flavour.
